Fourth-seeded Redondo (31-2) defeated visiting Alemany 25-13, 25-17, 21-15, 25-19 Tuesday and will place at Thousand Oaks (22-11) who eliminated Valencia/Valencia in five sets. Palos Verdes (17-16) stunned Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks 25-15, 13-25, 25-20, 25-23 and will host top-seeded Huntington Beach (33-0) in the second round Thursday.

In Division 2, third-seeded El Segundo (18-3) swept Saddleback 25-14, 25-15, 25-10 and will play at Foothill (16-4) on Thursday.

After winning its wild-card match against Nordhoff, Torrance (14-17) lost to host Lakewood 25-12, 25-14, 25-22.

In Division 4, second-seeded Bishop Montgomery (17-8) rolled over visiting Whitney 25-12, 25-12, 25-13 and will travel to Savanna (14-8) in the second round.
