Mira Costa’s Jordan Raney heads list of local All-CIF selections
Mira Costa senior Jordan Raney was named the CIF Southern Section Division 3 Player of the Year in girls water polo, leading a list of local prep athletes honored by the CIF for their accomplishments during the 2-13-14 winter season.
Raney helped lead the Mustangs to the championship in Irvine where second-seeded Mira Costa fell to top-ranked Los Osos 7-6 in a hard-fought battle.
Raney became the second player from head coach Jon Reichardt’s water polo program to win the award this school year. Austin Norris was named Player of the Year in boys water after leading Mira Costa to the Division 3 title in the fall.
“Jordan was the Player of the Year because of her ability and consistency throughout the season,” Reichardt said. “She was a great leader for our team as well. The honor is well deserved.”
