Curatorial Remarks and Introduction of Artists-3:30pm
Please join ESMoA staff and five artists from Cuba for the VIP Opening of Experience 07, STING! Hear remarks by our curator, Dr. Bernhard Zuenkeler, and an introduction of the artists, including: Celia & Yunior, Mauricio Abad, Fidel García, and Dennis Izquierdo.
The STING Experience is an evolving work produced by ESMoA. A vivid and highly complex art scene has blossomed in Cuba, inspired by its special situation. ESMoA invited five Cuban artists to visit El Segundo to participate in a new form of Conceptual Art.
STING will transform the art laboratory into a platform for the development and visualization of the understanding of transversality within individual artistic expression. The main exhibition space of ESMoA will become a place to create: Alive with the dynamic processes of rationality and emotion as seen through Cuban eyes. Combined, those processes will inspire metaphorical discussion between the artists and their viewers – and between the viewers themselves.
In El Segundo, STING will unfold gradually, with the art laboratory’s main exhibition space evolving from near empty to art-filled over a period of 6 weeks. Viewers, especially those who return repeatedly, will be able to experience the progress, with the full work revealed only at the end.
