MB Chamber & Holiday Cheer
This holiday season the Manhattan Beach Chamber teams up with businesses all throughout the South Bay to bring holiday cheer to one lucky winner. Through Dec. 7, the Chamber will sell $20 raffle tickets at all events, online and in its offices. Each purchase gains you a chance to win a large, six-foot stocking filled with items such as over-night stays at luxury hotels, popular South Bay restaurants gift cards, products and services as well as fitness passes and memberships. Dining for CSC Funds!
Commemorating Breast Cancer Awareness Month, several South Bay eateries are offering promotions to benefit the Cancer Support Community-Redondo Beach. Simms restaurants begins its ‘10 Days for TA TA’s’ today through Oct. 26 at its Manhattan Beach eateries. Simmzy’s, at 229 Man Bch Blvd, is donating $1 on each Simmzy’s Burgers along with 10 percent of a specially selected beer. Manhattan Beach Post, 1142 Manhattan Ave., is donating $1 for every Bacon Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits sold. Tin Roof Bistro, at 3500 Sepulveda Blvd., will donate $1 for every order of brussel sprouts sold, and 10 percent of the sales from a specialty Ta Ta cocktail being custom-crafted for this special cause. Fishing With Dynamite, at 1148 Manhattan Ave., is donating $1 for every order of Peruvian Scallops sold.
Additionally, in Hermosa Beach, Uncorked Wine Shop, at 302 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach, will be supporting CSC-RB with a promotional fundraiser for the entire month of October called ‘Bottles for Breast Cancer’ with a portion of the sales for each bottle sold donated to CSC-RB. MB Library book sale
Yes, there is no MB Library, and yet… the Manhattan Beach Friends of the Library is having a book sale today, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., thanks to the generous donations of books from the community. As the library is temporarily closed, the sale will be held at the Joslyn Community Center, 1601 Valley Dr., Manhattan Beach. Family Halloween Carnival
The Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Family Halloween Carnival is held every October at the Manhattan Heights Community Center, located at 1600 Manhattan Beach Boulevard. The event is designed for children ages 2 to 13 and includes costume contests, face painting, a haunted house, food and game booths, and more. All game booths are constructed by children in the After School REC program. Costume categories include 5 and under, 6 to 7, 8 to 9, 10 to 12, and parent and child, while prize categories include most original, scariest, and judge’s choice. 1 to 4 p.m.

Covered CA Town Hall
Individuals interested in learning more about the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and enrolling in Covered CA will have their questions answered by a panel which will include representatives from Covered CA, UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, and the health insurance companies that are participating in the exchange in Los Angeles County. The event, hosted by: Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi and the Beach Cities Health District, is from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ken Miller Recreation Center, 3341 Torrance Blvd., Torrance.

Women’s Club breakfast
The Woman’s Club of Hermosa Beach will host its 22nd Annual Pancake Breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at the Clark Building, 861 Valley Drive. With proceeds benefiting Hermosa Beach Woman’s Club philanthropies, tickets are $8 per person or 2 for $15 and free for children under 2. Breakfast includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit, juice and coffee.
