An artist’s dilemma
“Red,” which received six Tony Awards, including Best Play, opens at the International City Theatre, in the Performing Arts Center at 300 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach. Written by John Logan, directed by caryn desai, it’s about abstract expressionist painter Mark Rothko and a series of murals he was commissioned to design and paint for an expensive restaurant in New York.
