The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau are rolling out a new marketing campaign and website to advertise the “real” Hermosa and attract more visitors to the city.
“It’s a way to showcase that Hermosa Beach has to offer,” said Brian Cooley, co-founder of the marketing agency and retail shop Wicked + and a chamber board member. “For both locals and visitors, it showcases the shopping, eating, outdoor activities and all the different ways you can spend a day, a week, a month or even what to do when you live here.”
The campaign, largely through the new site, trulyhermosa.com, showcases the city’s more than 200 retail boutiques, specialty shops, restaurants, cafes and outdoor activities, all located just steps away from the beach.
“The ‘Truly Hermosa’ campaign is a great way to share what local residents and business owners already know; that Hermosa Beach is a special place,” said Chamber President and CEO Maureen Hunt. “Our business community is vibrant, our beaches are pristine and there are endless ways for residents and visitors to enjoy a beautiful day in Hermosa Beach.”
The effort comes on the heels of a number of improvements to the city in recent years that have made the city more accessible and pedestrian friendly, including the renovation of Pier Plaza and Pier Avenue.
“A lot of chambers advertise, ‘Shop, Eat, and Play,’ we want to find ways to showcase those ways to shop, eat and play,” said Cooley.
The project highlights the convenient size and location of Hermosa Beach, a 1.4 square-mile, pedestrian-friendly city of just over 18,000 residents, located only five miles south of LAX.
“From 2nd Street to North End and PCH, our big goal is to really stretch the boundaries and embrace all of Hermosa Beach, not just Pier Avenue,” said Cooley.
They also hope to empower and drive new businesses to be ambassadors for Hermosa Beach.
“We’re still made up of mostly non-chain shops and we’re local businesses that are made up of people that live here. We’re local craftsman and artists, much the way Hermosa Beach has always been,” said Cooley. “We have extraordinary, exceptional business and there’s really a community sense that you don’t get in other places. The beauty is that it’s all within 1.4 sq miles.”
